چکیده

Objectives: This study was conducted to assess effectiveness of dextrose prolotherapy, Electromyography (EMG) Guided Botulinum Toxin – A (BTX-A) Injection, and combination between them in treatment recurrent TMJ Dislocation cases. Subjects methods: current carried out on 60 adult patients suffering from Dislocation. The divided equally into three groups, Group I: 20 were treated with EMG guided BTX-A injection. II: prolotherapy. III: injection clinical evaluation preoperatively postoperatively (at 1week , 3 months 6 months) included visual analog scale pain, maximum mouth opening (MMO), frequency luxations . Radiographic using MRI done preoperatively, at months. collected data then statistically analyzed. Results: best results recorded group III compared other groups; all intervals significant reduction pain score, beside improvement MMO measurements. Conclusion: the prolotherapy is a promising dislocation

Electromyography-Guided Botulinum Toxin Injection Into the Cricothyroid Muscles in Bilateral Vocal Fold Abductor Paralysis

OBJECTIVES Bilateral vocal fold abductor paralysis (BVFAP) both deteriorates quality of life and may cause life-threatening respiratory problems. The aim of this study was to reduce respiratory symptoms in BVFAP patients using cricothyroid (CT) botulinum toxin (BTX) injection. METHODS Before and 2 weeks and 4 months after bilateral BTX injection into the CT muscles under electromyography; alt...

Acupuncture and botulinum toxin A injection in the treatment of chronic migraine: A randomized controlled study

Background: Migraine is a common type of headache. Sometimes adequate pain relief is not achieved by conventional treatments. Acupuncture and botulinum toxin-A injection are known as non-pharmacological interventions for this purpose. The aim of this research was to compare the effect of acupuncture with botulinum toxin-A injection and pharmacological treatment in controlling chronic migraine. ...

INJECTION OF BOTULINUM TOXIN IN THE TREATMENT OF ACHALASIA: A RANDOMIZED, DOUBLE BLIND, CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIAL

Our aim was to evaluate the short and long term efficacy of botulinum toxin therapy in Iranian patients with achalasia. In a randomized, double blind trial, 20 patients with achalasia, referring to Imam Khomeini Hospital, received either 80 units of botulinum toxin (BT) or placebo (PL) from 1995 to 1998. Two weeks later, the response to treatment was assessed on the basis of changes in the...

INTRODUCTION This study prospectively evaluates and compares the treatment efficacy of botulinum toxin injection under electromyography guidance (EMG group) and percutaneous botulinum toxin injection under flexible fiberscopic guidance (fiberscopy group). METHODS Thirty patients with adductor spasmodic dysphonia (ADSD), who had never received treatment, were randomly allocated into EMG- or fi...
